What did NATE do for National Health IT Week this year? Demonstrated consumer mediated interoperability through the NBB4C, of course!
On October 8, 2015, NATE was joined by representatives from Cerner, Epic, Get Real Health, Medyear and Humetrix to participate in a special HIMSS Policy Summit demonstration on Capitol Hill. This event was designed to help legislative professionals understand how they can improve patient safety and clinical outcomes by advancing the implementation of nationwide interoperability initiatives.
NATE partnered with both EHR vendors and participants in the NBB4C Trust Bundle to demonstrate how consumers can use NBB4C qualified consumer-facing applications to get and exchange their health information when it is stored in a provider-controlled application. Attendees appreciated that the demonstration was provided in real time and were impressed by the caliber of NATE’s partners. NATE and its partners appreciated meeting a wide variety of attendees and were especially excited to speak at length with a staffer from Senator Orrin Hatch’s office, as Senator Hatch (R-UT) is a former chair and senior member of the US Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP).
